I'm Sona, and I am thrilled to be your dog groomer in Vicars Cross, Chester. Established in 2025, Special Paws offers one-to-one dog grooming and ultrasonic teeth cleaning for all breeds, right here in the heart of Chester.
For me, dogs have always been a profound passion. My journey into professional dog grooming is a dream realised, allowing me to spend my days with these incredible furry friends.
I balance my time between dog grooming and my other creative passion, landscape architecture. This unique blend of professions offers me a great balance, allowing me to express creativity in different ways. At home, life is wonderfully full with my loving husband, our energetic toddler, and the super noisy, but utterly adorable, dachshund called Bryan.
Bryan is my best friend, and because I adore him so much, I understand the trust you place in me when you leave your beloved pet for a groom. I treat every dog in my care with the same love and respect I give my own.
My biggest quality as a groomer is my calm presence. I find immense joy in building a relationship with each dog, helping them relax and get used to the grooming process. Seeing them grow comfortable and develop a friendship with me is incredibly rewarding. You will find that I am an open book because I believe honesty is the best policy. This transparency helps us both have manageable expectations, working together to achieve the best possible outcome for you and your dog.
I honed my skills and knowledge at Groomingtails Groom School in Kingsley, where I completed my Level 3 qualification with the amazing and award-winning groomer, Julie Nicholls. This comprehensive course provided me with a deep understanding of dog grooming, coat care, handling techniques, and crucial insights into canine health and wellbeing.
While I enjoy grooming every dog, from the smallest to the largest breeds, my absolute favourite is puppy introductions. These early experiences are so important for setting puppies up for a lifetime of positive grooming experiences, and witnessing them adapt and thrive is incredibly fulfilling.
Beyond the grooming salon, I am proud of several significant milestones in my life. Coming to the UK on my own at the age of 18 was a defining moment. Achieving my BA and MA degrees with excellent marks is also something I hold dear. And without a doubt, becoming a mum to my wonderful little one has been the greatest gift of all.
